Peacemaker

Peacemaker went down
Dead on arrival
These nights, no longer so sweet
This road, no longer a joy to travel
The anticipation
The dreams
The magic
Now gone
Lost
In memories
I’m lost in myself
And somewhere the peacemaker’s gone down
I’m lost in my past
He’s just lost
Forever
The peacemaker has being laid to rest
These nights…
Memories most fondly in the dark, sometimes in the light
Forever changed
Marred
Scarred
Like myself
Like so many
The broken gather
I hope to lead them
They don’t listen
Just another ghost on the road
Traveling to a place that no longer exists
Only in dreams now
Only in visions
The nights no longer sweet
No longer the magic
No longer
The peacemaker has been laid to rest
And where was I?
I may never know

close to disappearing

close to disappearing
today I walk the trail of tears
i have to go back
not sure I’ll return
close to disappearing
taken too much damage
taking on too much water
sinking
into myself
into that which has past
into that which has disappeared
into you

Young Flame

Young flame
Dying out
Drowning her sorrows
Maybe just drowning
Isolated amongst the many
Lost amongst herself
Both the moth and the flame
Having been touched by her
Ill never be the same
Embers behind her eyes
Sorrow on her face
Soaked in so many chaotic nights
She feeds in the dark like a vampire
Falling down, falling all around
Consuming what anyone will give
Young flame, dying out
So hard to bare witness
So hard to hold onto
Impossible to protect
Impossible to connect
Young flame is dying out
And I’m out of fuel for her to burn

Occupied Spaces

Occupied spaces
I’ve seen your ghost
Across that street
In those places we used to meet
It’s these places, these occupied spaces,
I’ll never recover from the retreat
Breathing that air
Seeing those places
We occupied together
In space and in time
A moment, never to repeat
Except in my mind
And the ghosts continue to walk there
They continue to play there
They continue to talk and fall in love there
Now, only ghosts
Only haunted
That fill those places
Where we used to occupy spaces

There’s Nothing There For You

There’s nothing there for you
Don’t go back
Don’t fall back down the rabbit hole
Don’t sleep
Don’t breath
Don’t live
There
In that place
Torturers wait
They sharpen their tools
And they wait
For you
So don’t go back
Don’t fall in
To yourself
To her
To those places
Teased
They haunt you
Don’t go back
Those roads
No longer be traveled
Had you been there?
Were you ever allowed?
And yet you wandered
Through times
So cruel
Never letting up
Never letting life
Never let you go back
Don’t go back
There’s nothing there for you
Anymore

Night Ending

Night Ending
Every era has died
Those streets once traveled
Are gone
The body that filled those spaces
Has disappeared
The night is ending
And so many are alone
In themselves
Drowning
In memories
In time
Places and people gone
Now we’re haunted
Afraid of the terrors
The doubts
The memories
Of those like you
On the edge of our sight
Taunting
Haunting
Once so sweet
Now so severe
Such loss
In a night ending
In an era dying
A life ending
A spirit dying
Maybe this time for the last
The night is ending
