Shut Down

Shut down
The quickest kind

Small probes fuck the inner mind
Some kind of metal invades the inner shrine

Anchored pride and ignorant joy
Freedom of the few has been destroyed

The lovers in my state,
The heroes in my head
The probes keep infecting
And spreading the dead

Exposed and rotten, soon to be forgotten
Raw and sick, shutting down quick
Words of passage, words never said
Words of others, out of their heads

A lonely cost is pending,
A heavy load smashing
Mental breakdown
Eyes are crashing

Infections of metal
Infections of dread
Infections made by man
Consuming the head.

Crippled girl on crutch

Crippled girl on crutch
She was turning heads that day
Short purple dress
All American
Lost somewhere in that wilderness
A land with no conscience
A cold place and time
Her hair un-kept
She struggles
Coming through the door
A busy day behind her
A city flashing by
A story untold
A history
This was the crippled girl on crutch,
Her evening dress in the afternoon,
Her story unknown

Night People

Night People
Wander these streets
Watch yourselves, voices carry
In some places, route by subway
In others, pickup truck starry nights
Here and now, traffic light, queue of cars
High Heels on pavement, boots in the dust
The story of night people
Their loves
Their lives
Their adventures as others lay asleep
This is their time
The 4AM
The sunset
The dusk and the dawn
We’ve lost you there, in so many nights
Among them
Among ourselves
Sun never rise, adventure never end
Run to the end of that blvd
Run to the end of time
Neon cutting black
Electric fueling dreams
Of lovers
Friends
Those in other places
On the streets below
Here’s to the night people
Wherever you are

Time Traveler

I’m trying to travel through time today
Walking over once sacred places
Places only as memories, to some just dreams
Lost somewhere on a Diamond Ave
Red Brick walls haunt this place
Memories dance near
She dances near
But not now,
Somewhere then
And I find myself trying to travel through time today
To get back
To understand
To find her, or at least find those times
Of lush green, quiet neighborhoods, bohemians before their time has come
Life goes on
Here and now
Some of it, the same
But times have changed
New friends
New loves
Challenges met
People lost
With time
And I’ve been searching for that way back
At least I found the place

Last Chance

Last chance
Make this one up
To them
To us
Betrayer lay in the dark
He will be slain and lay dark forever
Some will dance on his grave
Others will poor whiskey
I will do neither
For I will be the one to plant the knife

Sad November sky

Sad November sky
Jetstream trails
One final run
Pull up your scarves young dreamers
The sun will be setting soon
And with it, our dreams
Blue and white, skies of youth
Beyond them, all tomorrows
Behind them, visions of simpler times
I’ll embark on a final run today
Through those skies
Through those dreams
I hope to find you in the other side

Winter

Scurrying under umbrellas
Many broken hearts are near
Days like these come on heavy
Heavy like the rain
In some places the snow
Commuters try and make it home
To warm places
At home and in the heart
We’re so far from the sun here
In winter
In these days
The wind will bite at your face
The rain will drown your heart
And where are you on this eve?
As cars hiss past and clouds loom overhead
It’s winter here, in the land, and in my heart
Tree branches bare death
They fight off the cold
As do I
Brittle on the edge but warm somewhere inside

Cold Winter Car

Cold Winter Car
He’s stuck by down by Ave A
Keep it warm, buddy
Keep that engine going
The girls are watching
Broken luck
Broken looks
Where should we go when we have all of nowhere?
Nowhere to be
Nowhere to go
Voices carry in these streets
Neon glows
Lights of the big big city
Cross that street in style, boy
Never know who’s watching, crossing or driving by

Tea and biscuits

Tea and biscuits
My heart is heavy today
It’s a hard morning
A friend has gone away
Dead in the night
Ended his life
It’s a hard mourning
Across different lands
In different cities
Around me people are still trying, still moving
A contrast
All roads intersect here
Going everywhere at once
Connected
In loss
In travel
In time
I’ll continue to sit in these places
I’ll continue to mourn
With nothing set before me
Except for maybe some tea and biscuits

the night curve

The night curve
Button up tight
Leaning the turn
City pass by
The city and her stories
The night curve is near
Friends share drinks and tell tales
Warm window shows
Stories inside
I pass by
Fast motion
On the night curve
Somewhere in this city
Is that moment
I pass by the same street over and over
I pass over that same ground
Now a history there
History of nights past
Of neon
Of those, out there, somewhere between the sun and the stars
Just as those somewhere in the dark night, between the lights of the city
I ride the night curve
Thoughts pass by like buildings
Like stories
Of those before and those to come
